Web Applications

Production-grade products built to scale from day one.

A marketing site tells people about your business. A web application is your business: the booking system, the customer portal, the dashboard, the internal tool your staff use all day.

The difference that matters commercially is that applications are where software companies lock you in hardest. Per user pricing, per transaction fees, and data held in a format you cannot export. A tool that costs eighty a month at five users costs eight hundred at fifty, and the price rises exactly as you grow.

How these are built

Next.js and TypeScript on the application side, with a real database rather than a spreadsheet pretending to be one. Authentication, roles and permissions built properly, because these are the parts that quietly become security incidents when they are improvised.

Server rendered where it should be indexed, client rendered where it needs to be interactive. Sessions signed and rate limited. Input validated on the server, never trusting what the browser sends.

Everything runs on infrastructure you control. Your database, your server, your backups.

What that changes

Your per user cost does not rise as you add staff, because there are no per user licences. Your data is in your database and you can export or query it however you like. And if the tool needs to do something unusual, it can, because it was written for your process rather than configured around somebody else's.

When not to do this

If an off the shelf product genuinely does what you need, buy it. Custom software is worth building when the tool is close to what you do rather than beside it, when the subscription cost has grown past the build cost, or when the workaround your team performs every day is itself the problem. If none of those is true, we will tell you to keep your subscription.
